The workout timer by Cavemantraining is truly one of the most flexible workout timer apps you’ll find on the Play Store today, and I’ll tell you why.

Our app allows you to program any kind of interval, which is what Tabata really is, Tabata is a form of interval training, and Tabata on its own is actually always 8 x 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest. Easy, we have a default timer to get you going with this right away. Just install the app on your phone, go to Quick timers and select Tabata timer.

OK, so the true Tabata is fixed to 8 x 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest which is to be performed at high intensity. If you perform any other number of rounds and a different time, it’s actually not Tabata anymore, Tabata has just become the mainstream name for interval training. Whatever the case, our timer allows you to create any form of interval training timers, whether you want a combination of:

  • Countdown 20 seconds
  • 4 interval training rounds of 30 seconds work and 10 seconds rest
  • 1-minute rest
  • 4 interval training rounds of 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest
  • 2 minutes rest
  • 4 interval training rounds of 15 seconds work and 10 seconds rest
  • Stretch for 5 minutes

OR

  • Countdown 20 seconds
  • 8 interval training rounds of 45 seconds work and 15 seconds rest
  • 20 seconds transition
  • 4 interval training rounds of 45 seconds work and 15 seconds rest
  • Stretch for 5 minutes

… or whatever combination of interval training you can think of, you can create it with our workout timer. Let’s get advanced with the timer, here is another example of an interval.

  • 4 rounds of:
    • 8 x
      • 10 seconds maximum intensity
      • 15 seconds medium intensity
      • 20 seconds low intensity
    • 2 minutes rest
  • 5 minutes cool down

I can’t begin to tell you what you can do with this workout timer. The best thing is, if you don’t know how to create a complex timer, simply join our public and welcoming online Facebook group, post the information on the timer you want to create and someone will help you. They might even create the timer for you and share it with you.
